From the time she was 6 years old, Dr. Alison has wanted to become a veterinarian. Although born in Toronto, she spent her early years in her father’s home state of North Carolina. At the age of 8, she moved back to Canada and spent the rest of her childhood in Niagara Falls. Her highschool weekends were spent working at a local vet clinic where she received amazing mentorship from both the technicians and Dr. Ron Mergl.
Dr. Alison settled in Strathroy after graduating from “U of Moo” (University of Guelph) in 2000 and has been at the Strathroy Animal Clinic ever since. Her husband is a local elementary school teacher and together they have increased Strathroy’s population by 2. Between the Alvinston and Strathroy arena, Dr. Alison spends the majority of her off time in the winter at an arena watching either figure skating or hockey. Both children are also enrolled at the Music Spot in downtown Strathroy where they take piano lessons. The summers are spent at the soccer fields watching her son play soccer or enjoying some down time watching the kids swim in the pool, or run at various track meets.
This busy family shares their household with a rescued ARF dog, a spoiled spaniel, 3 house cats, a tank of fish and a bunny. Dr. Alison is passionate about animals and children and she volunteers at her children’s school whenever she has the opportunity. She feels blessed to be raising her family in such a close knit community.
